The Jim and Carol West Foundation is a philanthropic organization based in Central, Texas, dedicated to the support and advancement of women’s collegiate golf through its signature event—the annual Jim West Challenge. This prestigious 54-hole tournament, hosted by Texas State University at the scenic Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, draws top-tier teams from across the nation and has earned a reputation as one of the most respected women’s college golf events in the country.
Through the tournament, Jim and Carol West provide vital support to student-athletes, offering athletic opportunities and scholarships that make a meaningful difference. As a result, their longstanding generosity has positively impacted more than 900 student-athletes and numerous coaches nationwide.

The Jim and Carol West practice facility provides Texas State athletes a premiere college atmosphere to hone their golf skills. The facility includes two 7,000 square foot practice greens, one dedicated to putting and the second to be used as a chipping area. The USGA regulation greens are planted with Champion Dwarf Bermuda grass with two separate bunkers that includes two different types of sand.
Additionally, a 12,000 square foot tee box is used as the driving range with 6-8 push up greens used for wedge practice from 50-100 yards. The indoor facility is a 1,500 square foot building that includes two indoor hitting bays and a SAM putting lab. The programs will also be able to utilize a Trackman teaching machine, helping to gauge distance control, further enhancing the student-athlete experience.
